9 The core design element in the ONYXX series is a flat, square aluminium BODY with rounded corners, and an optical unit and LED chip in the middle. This economy of form focuses on the essential by directing attention to the chip with its ‚luminous eye‘ effect. The geometric BODY not only lends ONYXX its clear character but serves as a passive cooling element for the LED unit. In terms of light distribution and operation, ONYXX leverages the successful solutions used in the award-winning SLIDE luminaire series. Ingenious magnetic fixture technology enables the COVER, OPTICAL UNIT and OPTICAL FILTER to be combined in various permutations of style, colour and lighting action for a magical effect. ONYXX offers all the advantages of cutting-edge LED technology, namely a choice of light colours, a fast response time, long lifetime, zero maintenance and eco- logical soundness (i.e. no toxic substances are involved, such as the mercury in fluorescent tubes). At an output of 18W und a total light flux of up to 2,200 lumens, an LED chip does the work of a 150W incandescent bulb and at the same time makes a significant contribution towards energy efficiency and sustaina- bility. What‘s more, the LED chip can be exchanged, opening up ONYXX luminaires to future LED generations and other colour temperatures and colour renderings. One 18W LED replaces a 150W incandescent bulb.
